Fort View is bringing 12 new affordable homes to Drumlark, Cavan Town. 10 semi-detached and 2 end-terrace three-bedroom homes,  released through the Affordable Housing Scheme administered by Cavan County Council.

The scheme helps eligible first-time buyers, and those who qualify under the Fresh Start Principle, purchase a brand-new home at a reduced price. In return, the Council retains a share of equity in the property, reflecting the difference between the affordable purchase price and full open market value.

Cavan County Council retains a share in your home

All purchasers sign an Affordable Dwelling Purchase Arrangement with Cavan County Council. The Council retains an Equity Share equal to the percentage difference between the open market value and the affordable purchase price of your new home.

You own and live in your home, while the Council holds a percentage interest. If the market value rises before you sell, the amount needed to redeem the Council’s share can increase too. The Council will generally not seek repayment for a minimum of five years unless you sell sooner, and you can choose to buy out the equity share early, subject to a minimum redemption of €10,000.
